Wedding Song Selections
Do you come to the rehearsal?
  • Your wedding rehearsal is mostly a logistical affair. You mostly deal with where to stand, when to come up, etc. Musicians are usually not present as it usually distracts from what the presider is trying to accomplish.
Can another organist/pianist play our wedding?
  • Absolutely. However, music selections do need to be cleared with the music ministry office and the pastor. If you are having a substitute musician, please contact me as soon as possible. At IC, we not charge a "bench fee" so there is no added cost to having someone else play your wedding if requested.
Will you take extra time to rehearse with my musicians?
  • The fee includes a brief rehearsal prior to the start of the wedding on the same day (usually, 45 minutes to an hour before the wedding to allow for prelude music). If for some reason more time is requested, the rate dictated by the Arch-Diocese of Chicago is $75 per hour, with a minimum of one hour and no proration, Usually an extra rehearsal is not needed.
Do you provide music for the musicans?
  • Most arrangements of music can be discussed ahead of time (to check similarity). Music that is either non standard or of a significantly different arrangement style will need to be provided both to the musicians and myself. Since we are a church of social justice, we do not photocopy music illegally or share music without proper compensation to the composer. However, much of the wedding music is in the "public domain" category and is free to reprint. With communication, we musicians usually have no trouble working out the details.
What are acceptable forms of payment?
  • Payments made be made in cash, check, or even credit card.
